Senior Estimator : Hydraulic Plumbing

We require an enthusiastic, hardworking and widely experienced Senior Estimator to join our lively, proactive and hardworking team. Chadoak has a supportive and social working environment.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the scope of the role includes :
1.  Job tasks and responsibilities

    1. Prepare cost estimates for plumbing and piping work including labour, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs
    2. Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work
    3. Survey quantity and take-off material
    4. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing; and in implementation
    5. Execute conceptual estimating in support of budget proposals
    6. Assist sales initiatives including interviews and presentations
    7. Calculate labour costs
    8. Prepare proposals and cost break downs
    9. Assess customer needs regarding scheduled and coordinated projects
    10. Control of variations; support claims processing
    11. Maintain the Quote Register
    12. Complete the Estimating Checklist for every estimate as part of quality control
    13. Follow up completed work, compare against estimate and adjust standard costings and productivity assumptions going forward
    14. Organise handover to field team leaders and ensure estimate assumptions are understood and committed to
    15. Collaborate with senior field force leaders and managers to ensure estimates include site conditions and other operational circumstances
    16. Supervision of other estimators will occur over time

2. Skills and experience
Demonstrated success in work of a similar nature is expected, including :

    1. Experience in working in commercial plumbing and drainage
    2. Experience in estimating work of a similar scope, size and complexity as set out in 1 above
    3. Proven in managing an estimating workload, with accurate, quality estimates.
    4. Demonstrated skills in : work prioritisation, meeting deadlines set by others, maintaining confidentiality; with estimates satisfying tender and other scoping documents
    5. Successful record in creating and maintaining effective relationships :

          i. Internally with your manager, technical specialists, field force leaders and support staff; an
          ii.Externally with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors and other stakeholders

    1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    2. Excellent computer software skills in excel, projects advanced and cavsoft
    3. Must have attention to detail and the commitment to solve problems with cost effective, practical solutions
    4. It is unlikely that the successful candidate will have less than 10 years’ experience in the above range of work, estimating scope, relationships and representing their organisation to others
    5. Managing an Estimating function, supervising others, collaborating in estimate sign off and performance monitoring is expected
    6. Self-motivated, team player and able to manage time and work flow are givens

3. Other.
This is not a learning appointment – it is expected that the appointee will hit the ground running and, apart from familiarisation with Chadoak’s practices and other on-boarding/induction, the appointee will immediately contribute. The initial focus will be on estimating, with the role broadening to include supervision as the business continues to grow.
This is a senior role with Chadoak Plumbing and remuneration and conditions of employment will reflect the seniority of the appointment – which will be discussed with the successful applicant.
